Time Warner Cable plans to open its first mid-Ohio division retail store in Grove City.
“We’re excited to open our retail store and we believe our new retail store will be a great addition to the Grove City business community,” said Time Warner spokesperson Jeff Ortega.
Ortega expects the store to open on Nov. 18 at 4182 Buckeye Parkway. Eight new employees will be hired.
Customers at the store will be able to test digital home phone service, Internet and cable, he said.
Time Warner selected Buckeye Parkway because it’s a growing area, Ortega said. “We feel it will fast become a retail destination.”
Mayor Richard “Ike” Stage said the city views Time Warner’s location choice as a compliment.
It’s a goal of the city to “be a regional destination for retail shopping,” he said.
Time Warner is among several businesses locating in the Buckeye Parkway area.
Kohl’s Department Store moved its store from 4050 W. Broad St. in Columbus to Buckeye Parkway and Stringtown Road. Hobby Lobby Inc. built a 56,073 square-foot store at 4192 Buckeye Parkway to replace its store at 4300 W. Broad St.
Last to arrive will be the Rave Motion Pictures Theatre at 4218 Buckeye Parkway, slated to open by Nov. 18.
Construction started in November of 2010 on the 55,000-square-foot facility, which will feature 14 digital projection screens and about 2,500 seats.
City development director Chuck Boso said Kohl’s, Hobby Lobby and the Rave Theatre will complete Parkway Centre.
Work began in 2004 at the center, which contains more than a million square feet of commercial property. While room is available for smaller stores, none remains for big-box retailers.
