Pizza and sweets shop to open at drive-through

By

A local car wash and drive-through will expand its services when Paulie’s Pizza and Sweets opens at 4170 McDowell Road.

Paul Paige plans to open Paulie’s Pizza within the lobby of the existing Buckeye Beverage Bay, owned by his friend Rob Ranft. Paige will sublease the space.

Ranft has operated Buckeye Beverage, a drive-through convenience store and car wash facility, since April. Paige said the new pizza shop will “help generate a little bit more business” for Ranft.

Customers can pick up pizza in the shop’s lobby or in Buckeye Beverage’s drive-through.

Paige plans to open Paulie’s Pizza this month. Sub sandwiches and breadsticks also will be available.

Paige said his wife, Debra, will make homemade sweets for the shop. Customers will be able to pick up or special order cupcakes, cookies, and cakes.

Hours for Paulie’s Pizza will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Ranft said he surveyed his customers about the idea for Paulie’s Pizza and got a positive response. The combination of the shop within the drive-through is “very unique,” he said, because customers don’t have to leave their car to pick up what they need.

“We’re just anxious to see what’s going to happen,” Ranft said.
