23rd annual Arts in the Alley
Festival takes place this weekend in Grove City
The Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 33rd annual Arts in the Alley Music and Arts Festival 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, and 11 a/m. -5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, in Grove City’s historic town center.
Festivities will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday with a parade beginning at the corner of Southwest Boulevard and Broadway; proceeding south along Broadway, east on Columbus Street; and finishing the route at Park Street Intermediate School, 3205 Park St.
The festival will feature the work of more than 100 juried exhibitors selling fine art, photography, jewelry, woodwork and other crafts.
Kids Fun Street, at the intersection of Park Street and First Avenue, will offer children the opportunity to create their own take-home arts and crafts, and food vendors, manned by local nonprofit and community organizations, will be on hand selling chicken and noodles, fried bologna sandwiches, curly fries, funnel cakes and more.
Live music and entertainment will be provided by a variety of acts including the Grove City High School Marching Band, Bits and Pieces, ventriloquist Mark Wade, Nashville Country, Vinyl Revival and more covering a range of genres.
At 1 p.m. on Sunday, an ice-cream eating contest will be held at Capital City Cakes in the Town Center Plaza as football players from local high schools compete for the honor of having a sundae named after their school at Capital City Cakes.
