Grove City resident Susan Kay Box Brunner said she has always dreamed about writing.
"This is something I wanted to do since back in high school," she said. "If you have a dream, you can do anything you want. It's such a passion and enjoyment."
Brunner is the author of two novels: Karen's Secrets of the March Life and Sara's Adventures. In April, she will complete the trilogy with the release of Tit for Tat.
The books, Brunner said, are about overcoming any situation no matter what happens in life.
"The series is inspirational, romance, mystery and adventure," she said. "It's about friends who meet with new people, how they interact with new people and how God fits into their lives. It's based on everyday events."
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, Brunner will be giving a book reading and signing at Eternity Books & Gifts at Grove City Nazarene, 4770 Hoover Road.
"It's really an honor," Brunner said about being able to take her work directly out to people.
Originally, Brunner said she intended for the series to be one big book, but after receiving advice from fellow writer Beth Loughner, she eventually regrouped and decided to split the stories up.
"It's like a baby," Brunner said. "You don't want to take a word out."
Brunner spent five years writing Karen's Secrets, all the while formulating ideas and sketching them out for the next two books.
During that time, she said she had help from a number of people along the way.
"In every way, from photography to inspiration to corrections to networking, I've been blessed," Brunner said.
Brunner is a graduate of Franklin Heights High School. She and her husband Larry have been married for 35 years. She is also a member of the Women's Civic Group of Grove City, the Columbus Arts and Writers Group, the Grove City Writers Group, local Bible groups and the Awana Club.
"I'm a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother," she said.
Her novels are available for purchase at Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, winepressbookstore.com and in the Eternity Book & Gift Shop.
