A pair of events in the Grove City Town Center later this month will offer families a fun day out for mothers and a haunting night for children.
The first event is Mothers' Day Out, sponsored by the Grove City Town Center, Inc.
Scheduled from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20, Mothers' Day Out is designed to give parents a break.
The event will be held at Leave a Mark Church, 3455 Grove City Road, and will feature a performance by nationally renowned puppeteer Mr. Puppet. Following the show, members of the Columbus Puppet Guild will assist children with making their own puppets to take home.
During the program, children will be supervised by the Guild as well as staff and volunteers from the Town Center.
The deadline to register is noon Saturday, Oct. 13, at grovecitytowncenter.org/momsdayout.
Parents who register their children for the event will receive coupons for services such as pedicures, facials, massages and haircuts at various Town Center businesses.
The second event is the Grove City Parks and Recreation Department's annual Halloween celebration, Boo on Broadway.
Boo on Broadway will be held Oct. 31. Businesses and other organizations will line the street on Broadway to pass out treats to costumed trick-or-treaters. In addition to a fortune teller, the festivities will include Jackson Township firefighters and Grove City DARE officers handing out treats and offering children a chance to see the different safety vehicles.
Between 5 and 9 p.m., Broadway will be closed from Grant Street to Grove City Road while Park Street will be shut down from Arbutus Drive to the first driveway west of city hall.
No parking will be permitted on those streets as of 3 p.m.
Traditional trick-or-treating will take place the same day from 6 to 8 p.m. Residents who plan to hand out treats are encouraged by the city to keep their porch lights on, and drivers are advised to look out for youngsters.
