People don't often take their boss with them when they leave a job, but that's what Diana Muha did.
Muha and Georgia Martin are the owners of 4 Paws & A Tail, a pet salon that opened in November at 2237 Stringtown Road.
Previously, they owned a pet salon in Gahanna, and prior to that, they both worked in another pet salon where Martin was Muha's manager.
"We're very experienced in running salons," Martin said. "We have a high standard in quality and safety."
4 Paws & A Tail offers basic and upgraded grooming services, hair cuts, nail trimming, bathing, teeth cleaning, hair dying and more for dogs and cats. The salon specializes in breed cuts, specialty grooming and hand scissoring. Options include "Platinum Pooch," "Buff 'n' Fluff," "Pretty Kitty" and "Glitter Bomb."
"I like working with animals and being creative," Muha said. "You kind of transform the dog when they come in. They look completely different, and you make people happy when they see the finished dog."
Martin said it's not really a challenge to keep the animals calm and under control.
"It's not chaotic here," Martin said.
"You have to love (animals) to do this job," Muha said.
Both owners are residents of Grove City, with Martin a lifelong resident and Muha originally from Westerville. Martin said they had planned on opening a business in Grove City.
"There definitely was a need here," she said. "And we get to be close to home. ... We love it here."
Muha said she originally became a groomer when she was 18 to pay for school before deciding to make a career out of it. Similarly, Martin said she knew it was something she wanted to do since a high school project in which she shadowed a professional groomer.
"That's when I figured what I wanted to do," Martin said. "I've been grooming a long time."
The salon is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
