Environmental Day set for May 4

The city of Grove City, Jackson Township, Keep Grove City Beautiful and Local Waste Services will host Community Environmental Day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Jackson Township Administration Building, 3756 Hoover Road.

Residents may dispose of appliances, construction and landscape materials and tires during the event. A maximum of four tires per household will be accepted. Documents will be safely and securely shredded by Ohio Mobile Shredding.

The electronic recycling company Possitiv!ty will collect computers, printers and monitors ($10 will be charged for each CRT monitor; $20 will be charged per television, regardless of size). Cell phones and eyewear donations will be accepted for reuse through several local civic organizations. Hazardous materials, paint and chemicals will not be accepted.

Volunteers will accept donations of non-perishable food items for the Grove City Food Pantry.

Adopt-A-Street/Park volunteers will spruce up their areas throughout Grove City during the first two weeks in May to celebrate the Great American Cleanup. Families, organizations and civic groups interested in adopting a street or park area should call 614-277-3058.
