12-year-old charged with rape

Grove City police are investigating a rape case in which both the victim and reported abuser are juveniles.

On July 2, officers responded to a residence in the Grove City's Creekside neighborhood, west of Buckeye Parkway, after a 911 hang-up call.

There, a woman told officers her grandsons, ages 4 and 9, told her their step-brother, 12, enticed the 4-year-old to perform oral sex on him the previous night, July 1.

The 9-year-old, according to reports, saw what was happening, told the others to stop and then told his step-brother he would be telling his dad.

The hang-up call had been made by the 12-year-old suspect, said Grove City Police Capt. Jeff Pearson.

The youth had called his mother because he knew he was in trouble, Pearson said, and she advised him to call the police. But he hung up when he called. The 12-year-old's mother also called the police to get someone to check on the situation.

Investigators arrived on the scene and spoke will all parties, Pearson said.

The 4-year-old victim was transported to a child advocacy center. The suspect was taken to the police department for questioning and then transported to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center. He has been charged with rape, Pearson said.
