The 30th annual National Night Out is set for Tuesday, Aug. 6.
National Night Out is designed to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and send the message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Last year's event involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out. Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most cities and towns celebrate National Night Out with a variety of special citywide and neighborhood events such as block parties, cookouts and visits from local officials and law enforcement.
Every neighborhood in Grove City is encouraged to participate in National Night Out. Invite your neighbors over for a cookout, play games in the yard and get to know each other.
