At the Mid-Ohio Grooming Expo, held Oct. 11-13, Christa Hanlon, representing the Scruffy to Fluffy dog grooming salon of Grove City, participated in the national grooming competition and placed in three categories:

At the Mid-Ohio Grooming Expo, held Oct. 11-13, Christa Hanlon, representing the Scruffy to Fluffy dog grooming salon of Grove City, participated in the national grooming competition and placed in three categories:

* First in Rescue Rodeo, the use of conventional grooming techniques and breed standards to give rescue dogs from the Franklin County Dog Shelter a makeover in hopes of upping their odds for adoption;

* Second and third place in Salon Creative, the use of standard and conventional grooming techniques; and

* Third in Extreme Creative Groom, the use of unconventional techniques such as three-dimensional design in the coat of the dog, coloring and overall presentation with props and attire of the groomer.

Hanlon is a member of the National Association of Professional Creative Groomers and the National Cat Groomers Institute of America.

Scruffy to Fluffy is located at 3391 Park St. and will host a one-year anniversary celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1. The event will offer free pet psychic readings, coffee, cake, wine and cheese and anniversary cake.

Costume wear is encouraged for owners and pets; best pet costume wins a free grooming.
