AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program assists unemployed Franklin, Delaware and Licking county workers age 55 and over with securing employment. The program offers paid work experience, specialized training, upgrading of skills and job-search assistance. Age, income and residency requirements apply. New Beginnings: Ten Steps That Every Job Seeker Must Make in the New Year, 7:45 to 9:15 a.m. Jan. 8, at New Directions Career Center, 199 E. Rich St. New Directions Career Center is sponsoring the seminar which is facilitated by a member of the Human Resources Association of Central Ohio. Health

Mount Carmel Health System, Walk with a Doc program, 8:30 a.m. the first and third Saturday of the month through March at the YMCA track. The walks are free for anyone interested in taking steps to improve their health. A doctor will be on hand to answer any questions and talk with people during the event.

Medicare Counseling, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at Wexner Heritage Village, 1151 College Ave. Volunteer Kathy Markus, a Medicare outreach specialist for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, will hold open office hours to discuss enrollment options, prescription drug plans and their benefits, Medicare Advantage plans, financial assistance programs for people with limited incomes and long-term care insurance. The free, confidential, one-on-one service is being offered in partnership with the Ohio Department of Insurance's Senior Health Insurance Information Program. Better Body Fitness Boot Camp for Women, one free week of classes offered at various locations and times around Columbus. Workouts include elements of cardio, strength, flexibility, balance, core and more. All fitness levels are accommodated. Nancy Eisenman, certified personal trainer, leads the classes.
