Grove City resident Roby Schottke, 65, was elected chairman of the South-Western City Schools Educational Foundation in December following the resignation of longtime chairman Gary Leasure.
Schottke has been involved in the school district and local community for more than 38 years, first as a science teacher at Grove City High School and then as its principal. He worked as a district-level administrator, supervising curriculum and instruction, and was executive director before his retirement in 2010.
In addition to the Foundation, Schottke is a trustee on the Grove City Visitors and Convention Bureau Board and a member of the Grove City Park Board. He also is a member of the Grove City Rotary Club.
Schottke is the fourth chairman in the history of the organization, which was established in 1988. Bill Saxton, Cathy Johnson and Leasure all served time at the helm.
Leasure had been chair of the Foundation since 2008, following his 12-year tenure on the SWCS school board and before that Grove City City Council.
