Kiwanis Club of Grove City, annual pancake breakfast, 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 22, at the Grove City United Methodist Church (purple door) 2684 Columbus St., Grove City. This all-you-can-eat breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, orange juice, coffee and milk. The cost is $6 per person at the door, $5 if purchased in advance from a Kiwanis member. Children ages 5 and under will receive a free meal.
Grove City Eastern Star, spaghetti dinner and bake sale, noon to 7 p.m. Feb. 22, at the Masonic Lodge, 3558 Park St., Grove City. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children.
Central Ohio Professional Education Council, along with the Better Business Bureau serving Central Ohio and Indiana Wesleyan University, hosting the first COPEC University event, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 22, at Indiana Wesleyan University in Hilliard. COPEC University is an educational workshop series that connects the public with local experts. Topics include healthcare reform, social media training, health and wellness, estate planning, caring for family, financial planning, business marketing and taxes. There will be more than 30 workshops with special tracks for retirees, caregivers and business owners. Breakfast, lunch and beverages are included in the cost to attend, which is $25. AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program assists unemployed Franklin, Delaware and Licking county workers age 55 and over with securing employment. The program offers paid work experience, specialized training, upgrading of skills and job-search assistance. Age, income and residency requirements apply. New Directions Career Center, Tax Help: How to Pay Uncle Sam Less Money and Put More Money in Your Pocket, 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. Feb. 26, at the center, 199 E. Rich St. New Directions Career Center is sponsoring the seminar which is facilitated by a member of the Financial Planning Association of Central Ohio. Registration fee of $10 is payable at the door. Mount Carmel Health System, Walk with a Doc program, 8:30 a.m. the first and third Saturday of the month through March at the YMCA track. The walks are free for anyone interested in taking steps to improve their health. A doctor will be on hand to answer any questions and talk with people during the event. Medicare Counseling, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at Wexner Heritage Village, 1151 College Ave. Starting in February, additional sessions will be available from 10 a.m. to noon on the first Wednesday and the third Monday of each month. Enrollment options, prescription drug plans and their benefits, Medicare Advantage plans, financial assistance programs for people with limited incomes and long-term care insurance will be discussed. The free, confidential, one-on-one service is being offered in partnership with the Ohio Department of Insurance's Senior Health Insurance Information Program.
