Grove City and the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to match area employers with job-seekers.
The third annual Grove City Job Fair will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, 3950 Brookham Drive.
"It's kind of a perfect marriage for all," said Don Walters, Grove City's business and community relations officer. "It really is a logical win-win."
In previous years, Walters said the job fair had about 40 businesses participate with a turnout of about 250 people.
Among the area businesses already signed up, according to the chamber's website, gcchamber.org, are Avon, Fireproof Record Center, Horton Emergency Vehicles, Regal Staffing, the Buckeye Ranch and ViaQuest.
This year's fair also will have advisers from OhioMeansJobs to discuss resume-writing and other employability tips with attendees, and for the first time, there will be a fee. The cost for businesses to participate is $25, with all of those proceeds being donated to the foodbank, according to a city news release.
For job-seekers, there is no fee to participate.
Shawn Conrad, executive director of the chamber, said the fair serves as an opportunity for both businesses and potential employees to make connections. Conrad, who became executive director of the chamber last year, said she has been busy meeting with both chamber members and non-members of the business community, and one thing she's been hearing is how difficult it's been for them to find qualified individuals to fill available jobs.
"That seems to be a common challenge for many businesses, for members and non-members," she said. "We're in it to support the community and our goal of workforce development."
The chamber is still accepting businesses for the fair. For more information, visit grovecityohio.gov, or to register a business, call 614-875-9762.
