Walmart to lay off 73 locally

Walmart plans to eliminate more than 70 jobs when it closes its consolidation dock facility at its distribution center in Grove City.

According to a Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification letter sent to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services by Walmart General Manager Mitch Hall, the company anticipates laying off 73 employees at the Grove City facility, mostly loaders and unloaders, on or around Sept. 15.

The WARN letter to the state states the layoffs be "permanent and will result in the closure of the entire Consolidation Dock facility."
