Comets' Lalonde heads to regional

Central Crossing High School senior Molly Lalonde advanced to the Division I regional girls cross country meet by finishing 17th (20 minutes, 40.88 seconds) in the district 2 race Oct. 20 at Watkins Memorial.

The top five teams and top 20 individuals advanced to regional Saturday, Oct. 27, at Pickerington North, where the top four teams and top 16 individuals will advance to state Nov. 3 at National Trail Raceway.

The Comets finished 13th (331) in the 15-team district race behind champion Dublin Coffman (31). Other runners for Central Crossing were sophomores Kristina Myers (56th, 22:53.52) and Jessica Stanley (82nd, 24:33.61), seniors Caitlyn Ritter (84th, 24:47.03) and Sierra Nollette (92nd, 26:17.10) and sophomore Noelle Brown (98th, 27:08.51).

The boys team finished 13th (366) in the 13-team district 1 meet behind champion Westerville North (45). Competing were juniors Isse Roble (47th, 18:28.76) and Kyle Pessel (61st, 18:52.81), senior Zane Aleman (83rd, 20:09.58), sophomore Cody Calafatis (88th, 21:16.96) and senior Tyler Tope (92nd, 22:35.01).

The Grove City boys team finished 14th (376) in the 18-team district 3 meet behind champion Dublin Jerome (51). Competing were junior Josh Schaffer (51st, 19:29.88), freshman Adam Glass (77th, 20:55.69), sophomore Alex Meister (81st, 21:17.35), freshman Troy Hendrickson (83rd, 21:26.7), seniors Logan Friend (84th, 21:57.91) and Drew Artrip (98th, 26:02.2) and junior Vihn Peters (100th, 27:59.64).

The girls team finished 14th (334) in the district 2 meet. Competing were senior Annie Winkler (36th, 21:32.81), freshman Micaila Mountain (57th, 22:56.53), sophomore Kim Peters (69th, 23:39.79), junior Ashley Artrip (83rd, 24:34.23), sophomore Destiny Camp (89th, 26:00.18) and senior Michaela Freeman (97th, 27:08.51).
