Greyhounds rout Briggs to snap 4-game skid

The Grove City High School girls basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak by defeating visiting Briggs 63-25 on Jan. 12.

Center Kristen Mesler had 10 points to lead 11 Greyhounds who scored.

Grove City is 6-8 overall and 1-7 in the OCC-Ohio Division.

The Greyhounds lost a league game to visiting Lancaster 69-62 in overtime Jan. 8 as guard Miranda Frase scored 19 points and forward Bree Kilgus scored 18.

Grove City plays host Friday, Jan. 18, to Reynoldsburg, which beat the Greyhounds 86-33 on Dec. 7.

The Greyhounds are seventh in the league, behind Reynoldsburg (8-0), Gahanna (7-1), Pickerington North (5-3), Pickerington Central (4-4), Newark (3-4) and Lancaster (3-5) and ahead of Groveport (0-7).

Comets to play host to Liberty

Central Crossing will look to avenge an early season loss to Olentangy Liberty when the Comets play the Patriots on Friday, Jan. 18, at home.

The Comets lost to the Patriots 53-30 on Dec. 7.

Central Crossing is 8-5 overall and 3-5 in the OCC-Central.

The Comets defeated Marysville 32-25 on Jan. 8 and lost to Westland 34-31 on Jan. 11 in league games.

Against Marysville, guard Jalynn Graham scored 16 points.

Guard Renee Baker scored eight points against Westland.

Central Crossing is tied with Westland for fifth in the league, behind Hilliard Davidson (8-0), Dublin Coffman (7-1), Liberty (5-3) and Upper Arlington (4-4) and ahead of Thomas Worthington (2-6) and Marysville (0-8).
