Grove City hopes to gain postseason momentum
The Grove City High School boys basketball team entered the final two weeks of the regular season looking to gain momentum heading into the Division I district tournament, which begins Feb. 23.
The Greyhounds play host to Lancaster on Friday, Feb. 8, in an OCC-Ohio Division contest. Grove City defeated the Golden Gales 88-53 on Jan. 8 as guard Christian Meister scored 19 points.
Grove City defeated Pickerington Central 79-66 in a league game Feb. 1, avenging a 74-64 loss to the Tigers on Dec. 21. In the rematch, Meister scored 20 points and guard Brandon Bapst had 17 points and 12 rebounds.
The Greyhounds made 10 3-pointers and outscored Pickerington Central 63-44 over the final three quarters.
The Greyhounds defeated visiting Groveport 67-35 in a league game Feb. 2 as Bapst scored 14 points. The game had been postponed Jan. 25 because of bad weather.
"I'm very proud of our players," coach Greg Waits said. "They played hard and deserved the two victories this past weekend."
Central Crossing to take on Marysville
Central Crossing visits Marysville on Friday, Feb. 8, looking to avenge an 86-58 loss to the Monarchs in their first OCC-Central meeting Jan. 8.
The Comets lost to Upper Arlington 70-41 on Jan. 29 and Dublin Coffman 72-46 on Feb. 1 in league games.
Against host UA, post player Matt Dwane scored 19 points.
Dwane scored 17 points against host Coffman.
