The Central Crossing High School girls basketball team opened the Division I district tournament by defeating host Dublin Jerome 49-32 on Feb. 16.
The 18th-seeded Comets took control in the second quarter, outscoring the 15th-seeded Celtics 15-2 for a 26-13 lead at halftime.
Senior guard Jalynn Graham led Central Crossing with 15 points.
"I thought our girls played a great game," coach Neil Hohman said. "We moved the ball well and made great extra passes that led to some good looks we were able to knock down. Jerome has some good interior players and our (post players) played excellent defense and kept them out of scoring positions. Our girls really showed up ready to play and beat a good Dublin Jerome team."
The Comets played at 12th-seeded Dublin Scioto in the second round Feb. 20.
The winner advanced to play second-seeded Gahanna or 41st-seeded Watkins Memorial in a district semifinal Feb. 28 at Jonathan Alder.
The semifinal winner advances to a district final against sixth-seeded Westerville North, seventh-seeded Olentangy, ninth-seeded Pickerington North or 21st-seeded Mount Vernon on March 2 at Jonathan Alder.
