Greyhounds' Bailey swims at state meet

Jack Bailey of the Grove City High School boys swimming and diving team placed 22nd in the 100-yard freestyle in the Division I state meet Feb. 22.

Bailey, a senior who placed fourth (47.43 seconds) in the district meet Feb. 16 at Ohio State and earned an at-large berth to state, swam 48.04 at Branin Natatorium in Canton. The top eight swimmers in each event advanced to the finals Feb. 23, and the ninth through 16th placers advanced to the consolation finals.

No other Grove City swimmers qualified for state.

Bailey, an Allegheny College recruit, also was seventh in the 50 free (21.77) at district. He was the OCC-Ohio Division champion in the 50 free (22.11) and 100 free (48.79) and helped the Greyhounds' 200 free relay (1:35.16) to first place.

Bailey is one of three seniors for the Greyhounds, along with Chase Hartman and Chase Stock.
