Erin Maynard of the Grove City High School gymnastics team was hoping to do better than she did in the individual state meet March 2 at Hilliard Bradley.
The sophomore placed 28th on vault (8.9), 30th on uneven bars (8.175) and 31st in the all-around (33.4). She scored 8.5 on floor exercise and 7.825 on balance beam as part of competing in the all-around.
"I'm happy to be here, but this wasn't one of my better meets," Maynard said. "My scores didn't turn out the way I hoped they would."
Alecia Farina of Brecksville-Broadview Heights won the all-around (38.35). The highest central Ohio finisher was Thomas Worthington's Leah Carloni, who tied for seventh (36.2).
Farina also won the vault (9.9) and bars (9.4).
Hilliard Davidson's Erin Finneran was the area's top finisher in the vault (9.075) at 17th.
Carloni was fifth on the bars (9.15) to lead area finishers.
Maynard was Grove City's lone state qualifier. Central Crossing did not have any state qualifiers.
