Torres leads Grove City girls at OCC tournament

The Grove City High School girls golf team shot a 423 to finish seventh in the third round of the OCC-Capital Division tournament Aug. 27 at Mentel Memorial behind champion Dublin Coffman (308).

Competing for the Greyhounds, who are in their first varsity season, were Makenzie Torres (79), Sakura Sip (94), Brooke Beaver (125), Sarah Ridgeway (125) and Jordan Allmon (137).

The Greyhounds also placed seventh (425) in the first round Aug. 7 at Oakhaven behind champion Coffman (296) and seventh (444) in the second round Aug. 13 at The Links at Groveport behind champion Coffman (300).

Entering the final round of the tournament Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Westchester, Grove City is seventh (6-18) in the league behind Coffman (24-0), Worthington Kilbourne (20-4), Marysville (19-5), Westerville Central (14-10), Hilliard Bradley (13-11) and Westerville South (9-15) and ahead of Westerville North (1-23) and Delaware (0-24).

Comets boys team seventh in league

The Central Crossing boys team shot a 333 to place seventh in the third round of the OCC-Central tournament Aug. 28 at Darby Creek behind champion Coffman (300).

Nick Jones (77), Drake Sidner (81), Bryce Hand (84), Brock Casey (91) and Nate Hartwell (95) competed.

The Comets also finished seventh (348) in the first round Aug. 7 at Granville Golf Course behind champion Coffman (296) and seventh (344) in the second round Aug. 12 at Apple Valley behind champion Coffman (294).

Central Crossing is seventh (3-18) in the OCC-Central ahead of Westland (0-21) entering the final round of the league tournament Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Turnberry.

Coffman (21-0) is first ahead of Upper Arlington (17-4), Olentangy Liberty (16-5), Marysville (11-10), Hilliard Davidson (8-13), Thomas Worthington (8-13), Central Crossing and Westland.

Greyhounds boys team playing well in league

The Grove City boys team shot a 329 to place fourth in the third round of the OCC-Ohio tournament Aug. 28 at Granville Golf Course behind champion Pickerington North (295).

The Greyhounds finished second (318) in the first round Aug. 7 at Darby Creek behind Pickerington North (295) and second (320) in the second round Aug. 12 at Turnberry behind Pickerington North (292).

Gavin Gensler, Jake Faught, Corey Owen, Josh Willis and Robbie Hill have been leading Grove City.

The Greyhounds will compete in the final round of the OCC-Ohio tournament Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Apple Valley.
