Greyhounds at .500 after first 10 matches

The Grove City High School girls tennis team was 5-5 overall and 1-4 in the OCC-Ohio Division before playing Pickerington Central on Sept. 10.

The Greyhounds lost to Pickerington North 5-0 in a league match Sept. 5. The only court on which they didn't lose in two sets was first doubles, where seniors Taylor Shawver and Katie Swartzentruber fell to Shivani Kothari and Leah Hohnberger 6-7, 6-1, 7-5.

Grove City defeated Westland 4-1 on Aug. 28. Posting wins were Shawver at first singles (6-2, 6-0), Swartzentruber at second singles (6-0, 6-0), senior Rachel Henricksen and junior Vicki Rohr at first doubles (6-1, 6-1) and senior Nicole Burris and junior Lauren Singleton at second doubles (6-0, 6-1).

Comets beat Falcons for first victory

Central Crossing was 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the OCC-Central after losing to Westland 4-1 on Sept. 5.

The Comets' lone win against the Cougars was by junior Savannah Kovacs, who won 6-3, 6-2 at third singles.

Central Crossing posted its only victory through eight matches against Franklin Heights, 5-0 on Aug. 28.

Winning were senior Brooke Cosgray at first singles (6-1, 6-3), senior Kristen Chandler at second singles (6-1, 6-0), Kovacs at third singles (6-3, 6-1), junior Tara Thomas and sophomore Michelle Massey at first doubles (6-3, 6-0) and senior Ashley Fyffe and junior Mackenzie Wallace at second doubles (6-0, 6-0).
