Roble leads Central Crossing at league meet
The Central Crossing High School boys cross country team placed seventh (214 points) of eight teams in the OCC-Central Division meet Oct. 12 at Hilliard Darby.
Senior Isse Roble was 31st in 16 minutes, 50.26 seconds to lead the Comets, who finished behind Hilliard Davidson (34), Olentangy Liberty (58), Dublin Coffman (58), Thomas Worthington (93), Marysville (154) and Upper Arlington (167) and ahead of Westland (215). Roble was followed by senior Hunter Taylor (47th, 17:35.6), freshman Ryan Bachman (55th, 17:50.6), senior Matt Chamblin (61st, 18:02.28), junior Cody Calafatis (64th, 18:38.63), senior Mike Chamblin (65th, 18:48.91) and sophomore Jake Lalonde (67th, 18:55.74).
Junior Kristina Myers' 36th-place finish (20:39.3) led the Central Crossing girls, who finished eighth (228) behind UA (39), Thomas (51), Davidson (59), Liberty (88), Coffman (119), Westland (203) and Marysville (210). Sophomore Sydney Peters was 57th (23:19.34), followed by sophomore Taylor Bernhard (58th, 23:22.07), freshman Cortny Lutey (62nd, 23:56.69) and junior Jessica Stanley (66th, 25:36.39).
Grove City's boys and girls each placed seventh of seven teams in their respective OCC-Ohio meets Oct. 12 at Pickerington Central.
The boys had 191 points to finish behind Lancaster (30), Gahanna (74), Pickerington North (77), Pickerington Central (91), Newark (119) and Reynoldsburg (163). Sophomore Doug McIntire led the Greyhounds with a 34th-place finish in 18:12.22, followed by senior Josh Schaffer (48th, 18:47), sophomores Austin Huff (49th, 18:57.65), Adam Glass (50th, 19:02.45) and Noah Porter (54th, 19:36.26), junior Alex Meister (55th, 19:48.57) and senior Brandon Presley (57th, 20:02.95).
Led by sophomore Micaila Mountain in 22nd place (22:02.08), the girls had 172 points behind Gahanna (29), Pickerington Central (78), Newark (91), North (95), Lancaster (113) and Reynoldsburg (167). Senior Nayla Morbitzer was 39th (23:23.74), ahead of senior Alexis Ewing (44th, 24:51.17), freshman Rachel Hitchcock (45th, 24:52.04) and senior Alex Koser (46th, 25:57.82).
Both Comets teams will compete in the Division I, district 2 meet Saturday, Oct. 19, at Watkins Memorial, and Grove City's teams will race in district 1. The top five teams and top 20 individuals in both district races will advance to the regional meet Oct. 26 at Pickerington North.
