Matt Jordan has resigned as football coach at Grove City High School citing family and work commitments.
He made the announcement to his players during a team meeting Nov. 5.
“I look forward to the challenges of the next chapter,” Jordan said. “What is that going to be? I’m going to take a look at becoming a principal, which is the next progression in the education cycle. You start looking at moving up the ladder and doing things.”
Jordan coached the Dawgs for five seasons, finishing 24-27 overall and 21-14 in the OCC-Ohio Division.
Grove City qualified for the playoffs once in Jordan’s five seasons – in his first year in 2008 – losing to Hilliard Davidson 38-7 in a Division I, Region 3 first-round game. The following season extracurricular activities in the South-Western City Schools district were cancelled when voters rejected a spending levy.
This season, the Dawgs won their final three games to finish 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the league.
