The Central Crossing High School wrestling team had four sectional champions and advanced seven competitors to the Division I district tournament Friday, Feb. 21, and Saturday, Feb. 22, at Hilliard Darby.
The top four finishers in each weight class at district will advance to state Feb. 27-March 1 at Ohio State.
The Comets finished fourth (148 points) in an 11-team sectional Feb. 15 behind champion and host Marysville (218.5). The top four in each weight advanced to district.
Champions for the Comets were Robbie Fusner (195 pounds, 32-10 overall), Jackson Lakso (106, 39-5), Kameron Teacher (heavyweight, 31-6) and Josh Wimer (126, 37-3). Ethan Leapley was runner-up at 138 and enters district at 19-17.
James Wimer (113, 28-9) was third and Gavin McKenney (132, 32-11) placed fourth.
Last season at district, Josh Wimer finished second at 119 to advance to state and Lakso went 3-3 to place sixth at 106.
Greyhounds advance six to district tourney
Grove City had six wrestlers advance to the Division I district tournament.
Will Marshall was the Greyhounds' lone champion in the Upper Arlington sectional, winning the title at 119 while improving to 29-7 overall.
Grove City finished ninth (135) in the 11-team sectional behind champion Westerville North (237).
Jake Crosby (170, 32-12 overall) and Chandler Evan-ichko (220, 36-11) placed third, and Cornelius Marshall (126, 25-15), Cortez Marshall (120, 23-18) and Marcus Nasdusak (106, 23-18) finished fourth.
Last season at district, Evanichko finished fifth at heavyweight and was a state alternate. Also competing from this season's team were Justin Belmonte (0-2 at 220), Cole Capehart (120, 0-2) and Will Marshall (106). Cortez Marshall (113) also was a district qualifier but had to withdraw because of a leg injury.
