Brush collection services continue to be offered weekly via Hilliard's contract refuse hauler, Local Waste Services.

The city service department will also continue to provide supplementary chipper services to clear brush after major storms or for special projects.

For residents' convenience, the city will operate a "Spring Cleaning" run of the chipper route for all public streets in early April. Areas located in the green and purple quadrants are scheduled for chipper service during the week of April 6. Areas in the blue and orange quadrants are scheduled for chipper service during the week of April 13.

Call-in service will begin on April 20, with weekly pick-up days every other Wednesday, and will continue until the week of Oct. 19.

All residents should have brush piled curb-side (or behind the ditch for non-curbed streets) by 7 a.m. on Monday of the week their area is scheduled for service.

During the special "Spring Cleaning" run, there is no need to cut brush into 4-foot lengths, nor is there a bundling requirement. Vines and foreign materials such as nails, wire or staples are absolutely prohibited, and any brush containing any of those items will not be picked up.

Any brush collection needs after the spring run will be collected by Local Waste as yard waste. To be picked up, material must meet yard waste criteria: brush must be cut into lengths of no longer than 4-feet, and then must be bagged, bundled using biodegradable string or twine (no metal wire), or placed into a standard trash container used exclusively for yard waste, and labeled "Yard Waste Only." Bundles may not exceed 2-feet in diameter. No single bundle, yard waste can or bag may exceed 75 pounds in weight.

The city will also continue to offer a call-in chipper service for residents who have a significant amount of brush (as determined by the city) due to a project or special circumstance (such as resident removing or clearing an overgrown area). When a tree service or landscape company is hired to cut down trees or clear areas, they are solely responsible for that removal.

To set up a special appointment pickup, residents can call the city's Service Request Center Line at (614) 876-7361 ext. 799.
