• Hilliard resident James Williams was recently awarded a $1,000 Youth Survivor College Scholarship from the American Cancer Society.

• Hilliard resident James Williams was recently awarded a $1,000 Youth Survivor College Scholarship from the American Cancer Society.

• Eric Reynolds, a 2004 graduate of Hilliard Davidson High School, received the 2009 Student Award for Excellence in Community Service at Ohio State University's annual Celebration of Excellence in Community Service and Scholarship.

The award recognizes an exceptional record of service to the community.

As part of the award, a donation will be made in Reynolds' name to Montaña de Luz, an orphanage in rural Honduras for children with HIV/AIDS.

Reynolds will graduate in June with a degree in mechanical engineering. As president of the student organization Engineers for Community Service, he made several trips to Montaña de Luz. He also served in the Honors and Scholars Mental Health Immersion Project, working with Columbus Suicide Prevention Services and the HIV/AIDS Immersion Project.

Reynolds organized a team of students to work in Guatemala with Asociación Maya Pedal.

He has also served on the board of the Edward S. "Beanie" Drake Student Leadership Endowment Fund and was named the Rob Wolf Outstanding Senior in Mechanical Engineering.

He is the son of Jim and Sue Reynolds of Hilliard.
