The Hilliard Women in Business Group, founded in June 2008, is celebrating its first anniversary by creating a new award for excellence in the Hilliard business community.

The Renai Award, inspired by the Renaissance and its rebirth of talents, arts and business, is designed to raise awareness of exceptional women in business and the Hilliard community.

"The Renaissance was a period in time which has been known for its great intellectual, social and artistic pursuits," said Libby Gierach, president/CEO of the Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce. "This period of rebirth created changes which are still being felt 500 years later.

'"In today's ever-changing world, the challenges of achieving success in the workplace, the community and our personal lives are more complex and difficult than anytime in history," she said. "It's important to recognize women who manage to make it happen."

Candidates for the Hilliard Women in Business Renai Award should have been in their current business or industry for a minimum of two years, have a history of giving back to the Hilliard community and be a member of the Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce.

The selection committee will also be looking for any recognitions or awards candidates have received related to their business or industry.

Nominations are being accepted through May 31.

To nominate a candidate, pick up a nomination form at the chamber office or on line at http://www.hilliardchamber.org.
