On Friday and Saturday, June 5 and 6, the Hilliard Lions Club conducted its annual White Cane Days fundraising event at the Kroger food store on Cemetery Road. Customers coming in to the store were invited to make money contributions for the club's service projects. In addition, those same customers were given the opportunity to buy non-perishable food items for the Hilliard Welfare Council's Food Pantry on Norwich St.

The members of our club were amazed and moved at the generosity of our Hilliard neighbors, even in a year when finances are so tight for many in our community. The Lions Club received the largest collection we have seen in several years, both of funds and of shared food. The White Cane Days event enables the club to carry out its commitment to work for preventing blindness and improving eyesight for children and adults, both in our local community and around the world.

The Lions Club of Hilliard would like to extend a hearty "thank you" to all those generous people who supported our efforts. To make more contributions to our White Cane fund, or for information about membership in Hilliard Lions, please call 563-6985.
