Pamela Anderson is the latest celebrity to be spotted wearing Dade Designs jewelry.

"She fell in love with a necklace, and went out to dinner in it. I'm excited," said Marlene Dade, CEO and president of Dade Designs.

Dade, who said she recently moved to Hilliard from Kentucky, has been making jewelry for 10 years, and sells her custom-made creations online.

Her clients include actresses Jennifer Love Hewitt, who has worn the "Buttercream Icing" necklace; and Sherri Shepherd, who favors "Pearl Splendor." Dade Designs have appeared on the red carpet of the Oscars.

Her work was also featured on We Decorate Columbus, a program on WCMH-TV.

"The decorating gals and even some of the homeowners were thrilled to put on such beautiful pieces," said Susan Fortner Bowers of Bowers PR, who is helping coordinate the show. "They feel Dade Designs' jewelry is like wearing works of art around their necks."

Dade was the only one wearing her designs in the beginning.

"I would find an outfit for a special event, and then it would take me so long to find the proper accessories to go with it. It was so frustrating because it would take longer to find the accessories than the outfit. I would have these images in my mind of what I needed. Most of the jewelry on the market is commercial-grade, and I wanted something that was really special, that made a statement, so I started designing my own.

"In the process, I looked at existing pieces and how they were made and thought these things could be made a lot better. When I started constructing mine, I took the extra time to make sure they're finished properly. That adds longevity to a piece so it can be passed down."

People would ask Dade where she got her jewelry, but she didn't let on that she had made it until she felt confident enough in her abilities.

"Finally someone came up and said, 'I've gotta know where you get your jewelry.' I told her, and she said, 'I'm going to have a show for you.' So that's how I got started."

Dade started with invitation-only shows, and then annual Christmas shows, and now has a full-scale boutique online. A friend has helped with the Hollywood connections.

Dade doesn't have a shop yet, but she has an employee and is talking with stores about carrying her line of jewelry.

"Right now, I have the bigger styles online, because that's what's in right now, and turquoise is such a huge color for the season. I also have a line that's more delicate-looking. I'm hoping this online boutique will get a lot more attention, because I really love the Columbus area."
