The theme for this year's Fourth of July celebration is "Peace on Earth." The parade begins at 2 p.m., and festivities will kick off at 4 p.m. at Reynolds Municipal Park. Children can enjoy inflatables and games. Live entertainment will be provided. Fireworks will be set off at 9:45 p.m.

The department will sponsor "RU FIT?" this summer. The program runs through Saturday, Aug. 7. Pick up an activity record and fill it in for a chance to win prizes along the way.

A children's fun triathlon will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, July 25, in Reynolds Municipal Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m. A cookout and pool party will follow the triathlon. Children ages 6-14 will swim, bike and run. Cost of $15 per child includes a T-shirt. Register at the community center or online at www.cityofhilliard.com.

A back-to-school splash is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 7, at the aquatic center. Enjoy breakfast and "Katie cakes" for $3 a plate. General admission is $5. Free admission will be offered to those who participate in "R U FIT?" this summer.

The annual Tidd family fishing derby starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, and ends at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7. Cost is $3 per person. Youth ages 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult of at least 21 years of age. Prizes will be awarded for each of three age group categories. A grand prize will be offered for the biggest catch by weight.
