It was a true pleasure to work with all the organizations that collaborated to plan a month-long celebration, Olde Hilliard Christmas. All these organizations' members put their heart and soul, not to mention the endless hours in preparation, to put on these events for the community.

It was a true pleasure to work with all the organizations that collaborated to plan a month-long celebration, Olde Hilliard Christmas. All these organizations' members put their heart and soul, not to mention the endless hours in preparation, to put on these events for the community.

If you see a member of the Northwest Franklin County Historical Society, city Parks and Recreation department, city service personnel, Norwich Township trustees, Norwich Township firefighters, the Agriculture Society, Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce, Hilliard Senior Center, Hilliard Youth and Family Commission and Hilliard Arts Council, thank them for all their efforts.

I would like to personally thank each and every one of these organizations; words cannot express how grateful I am to be part of your team to bring successful events to the community.

In addition, I would like to thank the sponsors who made this event possible: Otie's Tavern and Grill, Sports on Tap, Hilliard Rotary Club, Hilliard Arts Council, RJ Buoni Painting Inc., Sawchuck Jewelers, Agricultural Society, Northwest Franklin County Historical Society, Klean-a-Kar, Louie's and Hilliard City Council.

I encourage the community to continue to come out to support these organizations. They have numerous events planned for 2011. As we make our New Year's resolutions, think about contacting these organizations to see how you might become involved.

An Olde Hilliard Christmas kicked off in splendid form in our Historical Village with the annual tree lighting on December 2. It was truly wonderful to see so many families come out for the festivitiesbut what was equally special was what took place behind the scenes to make it possible.

An Olde Hilliard Christmas, and the month full of activities planned in Old Hilliard, was the result of remarkable collaboration between the city, community organizations and countless volunteers.

I would like to thank the Northwest Franklin County Historical Society for its commitment to hosting this event and preparing the village. I appreciate the city's Parks and Recreation Department and the service personnel who hung all the new Christmas lights. Thanks also to the Norwich Township trustees, Norwich Township firefighters, Tim Shade and the Agriculture Society, Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce, Toy Train Operating Society, Hilliard Senior Center, Hilliard Youth and Family Commission, Hilliard Arts Council and, of course, Christy Clark and the trustees of Destination Hilliard - all of which played a critical role in making this event a success.

In addition, I would like to thank the sponsors: Otie's Tavern and Grill and Sports on Tap for sponsoring the trolley, Hilliard Rotary Club for Santa's presents, Hilliard Arts Council for purchasing the lights to decorate the covered bridge, logo, trolleys and coloring contest prizes, RJ Buoni Painting Inc., for sponsoring carriage rides and my colleagues on Hilliard City Council for their support in lighting the village.

Finally, thank you to the many businesses and residents who have decorated their homes and buildings and are participating in the holiday decorating contest in Old Hilliard.

Please take time this holiday season to participate in the many events planned for Weaver Park. It is events like these that showcase just how special our community is and how fortunate we are to call it home.

Merry Christmas!
