Kenton Colvin, a fifth-grader at St. Brendan School in Hilliard, is one of 24 students who was honored for his artwork in the annual Holy Childhood Association Christmas Artwork Contest.

Winners were chosen from more than 10,000 entries submitted by elementary school children in Catholic schools, religious education classes and home school programs throughout the United States.

A representative of the Diocese of Columbus acknowledged Colvin's honor following a school Mass this month. Mass for the 24 winners and their families was celebrated on Dec. 10 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., followed by a luncheon and tour.

Winning artwork is on display at the Basilica throughout the advent season.

Colvin received a commemorative plaque featuring his winning entry.
