A Dublin resident recently won $10,000 for two Hilliard families through U.S. Bank's "Make it Happen" contest.

The contest gave Visa cardholders a chance to win the money by writing a story on how they would help "make it happen" for someone in need, using email and social networks to vote for their stories.

Jill White's story was among the top three vote-getters, earning $5,000 for her cause and $5,000 for herself. However, she gave the entire prize to the two Hilliard families she wrote about, the Brownings and the Chamberlains. They will help Casey Browning, 9, who has been fighting leukemia since he was 3; and Adelyn Chamberlain, 2, who received a kidney from her father, undergoing a transplant in December.

"I was so taken back and moved by how they had chosen to deal with all of this," White said. "Everybody in life faces challenges. It really says something about someone how they face the challenge. These two families have such a great spirit."
