Linda Ulrey of Flyers Pizza and Subs won the Renai Award during a Hilliard Women in Business luncheon last week.

Hilliard resident Ulrey is the director of Top Flight Catering for the Flyers chain, which has seven locations, including 5466 Roberts Road in Hilliard. The catering business offers products such as fruit and vegetable trays, boxed lunches and full meals.

It was said during the presentation that Top Flight Catering has grown rapidly, with increased sales each year, thanks to Ulrey's community involvement. A graduate of Hilliard High School in 1983 and of Leadership Hilliard, Ulrey is supportive of city schools and involved with local churches, the farm market and other local events.

Ulrey was a former manager at Rally's, and trained several female managers for the chain. She was also a property manager of more than 4,000 units and condominiums. Ulrey is married and has four children.

Accepting the award was Josie Semo of Flyers, who read an acceptance speech from Ulrey, who was on vacation.

"Steve Ulrey, my brother-in-law, the chief operating officer of Flyers, approached me about starting a catering business within Flyers," Ulrey wrote. "I started with the basics our motto: Top Flight Taste and First Class Service. The first year was all about creating relationships. I started with Leadership Hilliard, and wow, did that help me to find out who I am, and who I never want to be.

"Thanks again for thinking of me. I consider all of you my friends even if I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you, I hope to soon. Sincerely, Linda," Ulrey wrote.

Hilliard Women in Business have named the Renai Award after the Renaissance period of history. Winners are women who have been in their industry a minimum of two years, have received recognition in that field, have given back to the Hilliard community, and are members of the Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce.
