Columbus, Norwich Township and Upper Arlington firefighters responded to another local fire Saturday, Jan. 5, that severely damaged a condominium unit at the Lakes at Mill Run, on the north side of Park Mill Run Drive, just east of Fishinger Boulevard.
The Columbus Division of Fire received a report of the fire at 3834 Lake Drive in Columbus at 1:40 p.m. It was contained at 2:12 p.m.
No firefighters or civilians were injured in the blaze, said Jeff Martin, battalion chief for the Columbus Division of Fire.
Fire damage was contained to the unit where the blaze originated, but the three attached units sustained water or smoke damage, Martin said.
The fire appears to have originated in an electrical panel at the condominium, he said.
Some nearby residents said they were not aware of the fire until fire engines began threading the narrow streets in the neighborhood.
"It was like the pictures I've seen on TV," said Anita Telford, a member of the board of trustees of the Lakes at Mill Run Condominium Association. "The flames and the smoke were so high.
"A fire like this is the terror of all condominium boards because when one goes, it can affect so many more others."
