Hilliard restaurants to hold food pantry fundraiser

Nine Hilliard restaurants are participating in Dine for the Pantry, a Feb. 4-7 fundraising event to benefit the Hilliard Food Pantry.

The event was established after community leaders met last month with Debbie Smith, executive director of the Hilliard Food Pantry and the Hilliard Community Assistance Council.

Smith met with representatives from Hilliard City Council, the YMCA of Central Ohio, the Rotary Club of Hilliard and Destination Hilliard to identify immediate and long-term needs of the pantry and to develop a strategic plan.

Dine for the Pantry is designed to provide the pantry with the ability to maintain its stock during the summer months, when the fewest donations are received.

"One of goals of the fundraiser is to develop something that everyone could participate in and build community spirit," said Christy Clark, executive director of Destination Hilliard.

The participating restaurants will donate 10 percent of a patron's total food bill to the Hilliard Food Pantry.

Patrons must present a voucher available at the Hilliard Municipal Building, the Hilliard Food Pantry or online at www.localevel.com or www.destinationhilliard.com.

The restaurants and the dates they will participate are:

* Abner's, 4051 Main St., from 4 to 10 p.m., Feb. 4-7.

* Applebee's, 5561 Westchester Woods Blvd., Feb. 5.

* Auddino's Bakery, 3560 Fishinger Blvd., Feb. 4-7.

Tickets are $60 to $75 and can be purchased at www.localevel.com. The party will include food, music and prizes for an optional costume contest.
