Bradford, Delande named new department directors for city

Tracy Bradford and Dave Delande were named new department directors at the Feb. 11 Hilliard City Council meeting.

Each was a deputy director who was serving as an acting director.

Bradford, the new law director, will succeed Pam Fox as the city's chief legal counsel. Bradford had been an assistant law director since February 2004.

Bradford was an assistant city attorney in Dayton from January 2002 to February 2004. From February 2000 until June 2001, she was director of economic development and public safety for Hilliard.

Delande, the new finance director, began his service to the city of Hilliard in 1994 as a tax administrator. He was named deputy finance director in 1996 and had been acting director since the retirement of Michelle Kelly-Underwood in October.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to keep serving the city. It's a great community to live and work in," Delande said.

Bradford said she, too, is looking forward to continuing to represent the city.

"I couldn't ask for two better people," said Mayor Don Schonhardt, who lauded the departed directors for "taking their roles as mentors seriously" and newly appointed directors for "aspiring to their positions."

With the exception of former Recreation and Parks Director John Brennan, who was elected mayor of Bexley, a position he held until his death last year, Bradford and Delande represent the only other changes in Schonhardt's cabinet since he took office in 2004.

"I think it is a testament to this administration and council ... and speaks volumes to the dedication of our employees (to have such a low turnover)," Schonhardt said.
