The Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce recognized three members at its annual meeting March 15 at the Heritage Golf Club.
Each year, the chamber recognizes three "best of" categories: emerging business, established business and most involved volunteer.
Sawchuk Jewelers, 5093 Cemetery Road, was recognized as best emerging business for 2012.
Owners Kevin and Heidi Sawchuk opened the family-operated jewelry store in March 2009.
The chamber cited architectural improvements the Sawchuks have made to the building, contributions to the community and quality customer service as criteria for receiving the award.
The Credit Union of Ohio was recognized as best established business.
The credit union was founded in 1967 and relocated to its current Hilliard site, 5500 Britton Parkway, in September 2007.
The credit union offers educational workshops about credit scores and the mortgage process. It also offers scholarships for students at each of the three Hilliard high schools, as well as supporting the Taste of Hilliard and Business Expo and the Hilliard Division of Police K9 units.
Heather Keck, an attorney with Bowen & Keck Law, was recognized as most involved chamber member.
Keck's chamber activities include serving as a screener for student applicants for Hollyfest Scholarships, judging coordinator for Taste of Hilliard and Business Expo and volunteering for the Hollyfest Arts and Crafts Show.
Keck joined the chamber's board of directors in 2008 and served as its chairwoman in 2010 and 2011.
