Norwich Township will begin celebrating its bicentennial with an open house Saturday, April 27, at the Joint Safety Services Building, 5181 Northwest Parkway in Hilliard.
The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, will be the first of several community events Norwich Township officials are planning in honor of the 200th anniversary.
The open house includes a number of activities said Mildred Brooks, administrative assistant of Norwich Township and chairwoman of the township's bicentennial committee.
Tours of the fire department's Station 81 and rescue equipment demonstrations are planned, as well as interactive exhibits for children, Brooks said.
Illustrations of historical events, memorabilia and antique fire trucks will be on display.
Also, the historical village at Weaver Park will be open for tours, free health screenings will be provided and the Hilliard Division of Police will collect and dispose of expired or unwanted prescription medications.
