American Legion Post 614 American Legion Auxiliary Unit 614, Baked Chicken Dinner, 5 to 7 p.m. May 17 at Hilliard Senior Citizens Center, 3810 Veterans Memorial Drive. Cost is $8. The public is invited for meals that include baked chicken, potatoes, vegetables, roll and dessert.
Hayden Baptist Church, all-you-can-eat country breakfast, 8 to 11 a.m. May 18 at the church, 6729 Hayden Run Road, Hilliard. Breakfasts include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, gravy, biscuits, pancakes, French toast, milk, coffee and orange juice. Cost is $5, $2.50 for children. Carryout will be available.
Credit Union of Ohio, Hilliard Police, Norwich Fire Department and Nationwide Insurance, Bike Safety Day, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18, at its Hilliard branch, 5500 Britton Parkway. The event will include activities for children of all ages, including five bike safety stations, fire truck tours, face painting, free food and live music entertainment by the Shazzbots. Bike helmets will be given away to the first 50 children and one free bike will be given away during the event. Goody bags will be given away to all children who visit the bike safety stations. Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Fundraiser-Reception, 8 p.m. May 18 at Kitamu Coffee on Hilliard Rome Road. Hilliard resident Dani Davis has successfully worked with Ohio Gov. John Kasich on a proclamation to make May "Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Awareness Month." In addition, Davis has created a collection of paintings and art pieces to promote awareness of the illness. The reception, showcasing Davis' artwork, will include an artist meet-and-greet, discussion of Davis' personal story with EDS and an opportunity to donate money to help fund a new research and treatment center. Several local musicians will provide entertainment. Davis' art will be on display throughout May.

Teams from area businesses, organizations and schools will walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society and its efforts in cancer research and education.
