Plain City boy drowns in pool

An 8-year-old Plain City boy discovered unresponsive in a backyard pool at a Brown Township residence died June 9 at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Fire Chief Bob Kaufman said Norwich Township medics responded to a residence in the 8400 block of Morris Road in western Franklin County at about 4 p.m. Sunday, June 9.

The boy, identified as Jonathan Miller, 8, had been removed from the pool before medics arrived, Kaufman said.

He was transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m.

The boy had been at the residence for a family gathering, Kaufman said.

The drowning appeared to be accidental, he said.
