Cobra car club slates three events this weekend

The Ohio Cobra Club will stage a pair of events Friday, June 21, in advance of the club's annual car show June 22 in downtown London, Ohio.

Drive-in gatherings for club members are scheduled at St. James Lutheran Church, 5660 Trabue Road, in Columbus, and at Quaker Steak and Lube, 8500 Lyra Drive, at Polaris.

The club is selling $20 raffle tickets at each venue, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., to win a donated, custom-made Cobra. Proceeds benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Club members also provide rides for $10 during the London Cobra Show. Proceeds also benefit the foundation.

The club has raffled a Cobra car each year for the past 13 years, generating at least $40,000 and in some years, nearly $100,000 for the foundation, said Bill Dyer, a Hilliard resident and president of the Ohio Cobra Club.

The Ohio Cobra Club has about 280 local clubs, Dyer said.
