A Hilliard church has been authorized to build an addition to its building on Leap Road.

The Hilliard Planning and Zoning Commission on Aug. 8 approved a conditional-use permit for the Hilliard Church of the Nazarene, 3669 Leap Road, allowing for the construction of a 5,220-square-foot addition.

Commission members voted 6-0 in favor of the permit.

It was the only case considered at their Aug. 8 meeting.

Mayor Don Schonhardt, a member of the commission, also provided a brief summary and update of the construction progress for the Giant Eagle grocery store and a medical office at the Gateway at Britton at the northwest corner of Cemetery Road and Britton Parkway.

Schonhardt said construction of the first of two medical offices at the Gateway at Britton is well under way and expected to be completed in December.

"Occupancy should begin in January," he said.

Plans have been submitted for review for the second medical office, he said.

The new traffic roundabout on Britton Parkway north of Cemetery Road to access the Gateway at Britton is scheduled to open no later than Friday, Aug. 23, he said. At that time, Britton Parkway will reopen between Cemetery and Davidson roads.
