Charges expected in fatal crash; lab reports pending

Charges are expected to be filed against an Orient woman involved in a car accident Sept. 7 that killed a Hilliard boy and two others, but it could take more than three weeks, investigators said earlier this week.

Sgt. Carl Hickey of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office said Sept. 16 that investigators are waiting for toxicology reports for Melissa Ann Robins, 32.

Robins was driving south on U.S. Route 62 when her Pontiac Vibe went left of center and struck a Honda Accord head on near Harrisburg, just north of the Franklin-Pickaway county line, at 11:20 p.m. Sept. 7.

Elijah Love, 9, a student at Beacon Elementary School, was a passenger in the Honda. He later was pronounced dead at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

His father, mother and two siblings were seriously injured.

A father and son in Robins' vehicle, Sammy F. Stamper Sr., 55, and Samuel Scott Stamper, 29, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said alcohol or drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash.
