Crash that killed sports anchor's daughter still under investigation

The Dublin Foundation has established the Maria Tiberi Memorial Fund for the 21-year-old Dublin resident and Coffman High School graduate killed Sept. 17 in a car accident on Interstate 270 in Hilliard.

Hilliard police say Maria Elizabeth Tiberi, the daughter of 10TV sports anchor Dom Tiberi, was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla south on I-270 at about 10:46 p.m. Sept. 17 when she struck the back of a stopped tractor-trailer near the Cemetery Road overpass.

Vehicles were stopping because of heavy traffic, Hilliard police said.

"The crash remains under investigation," Hilliard police officer Hyda Slone said Sept. 24.

Hilliard police have not released any contributing causes to the accident.

Tiberi was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center from injuries sustained in the accident, police said.

She was a student at the Ohio State University.

Contributions to the Maria Tiberi Memorial Fund can be made at dublinfoundation.org.
