The Jackson Township Board of Trustees at its Nov. 19 meeting unanimously passed a resolution to hire Kyle Wilson of Hilliard as a new fire technician.

Wilson was sworn in by David Burris, chairman of the board of trustees, at the meeting and reported for duty the same day.

Wilson is the division's 17th fire technician and joins 1 Unit at Station 202, 3650 Hoover Road in Grove City. Unlike full-time firefighter/paramedics, Wilson will work every other shift or every sixth day, but his duties mirror full-time firefighter/paramedics with the exception of driving engines or medic units. He is a 2005 graduate of the Hocking College fire program, has an associate degree in fire science from Columbia Southern University and has completed several National Incident Management System courses.

Wilson has worked for Williamsburg County Emergency Medical Services and Midway Fire Rescue, both in South Carolina. In addition to working as a fire technician for Jackson Township Division of Fire, he works for Port Columbus Fire Rescue and Hocking County Emergency Medical Services.
