Planning and zoning commission

Landmark Lofts application will be on the table Jan. 9

Hilliard Planning and Zoning Commission members are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, to consider six cases, including a rezoning application in connection with Landmark Lofts, a mixed-use residential and retail development planned at Cemetery Road and Franklin Street.

Commission members are expected to hear an application for the rezoning of Sunbelt Rentals' 0.6 acre, placing the parcel within the previously approved planned-unit development plan for Landmark Lofts.

The rezoning of 5.8 acres was finalized last year along with a development plan for about 170 apartments, retail stores, restaurants and the refurbishment of an inoperable grain elevator into 7,000-square-foot community center.

While the project was moving forward, developer Buckeye KRG remained in negotiations with Sunbelt Rentals, 5274 Cemetery Road, whose owner initially rebuffed offers to join a tax-increment financing district being established for the remainder of the Landmark Lofts development.

In August, an attorney representing Buckeye KRG announced an agreement had been made to purchase the Sunbelt Rentals parcel and relocate the business to Northwest Parkway.

In other action at the Jan. 9 meeting, commission members are expected to consider Hilliard's proposed five-year capital-improvements plan; a final plat for 19 lots on 9.6 acres at the Estates at Hoffman Farms; a conditional-use permit to allow a mortuary on the west side of Trueman Boulevard, 2,400 feet south of Davidson Road; a final plat for seven lots and 53.8 acres of parkland on a 74-acre parcel at Heritage Preserve; and a rezoning application from low-density residential to multifamily residential for Glenmont, 4579 Avery Road.
