State Rep. Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) and state schools Superintendent Richard Ross read Abe Lincoln Crosses a Creek on March 3 to third-grade students at J.W. Reason Elementary School on Cemetery Road in Hilliard.

Together with Mary Kennedy, president of the Hilliard Education Association and a music teacher at Hilliard schools, the three read to several classrooms at J.W. Reason for Read Across America week. Ross said he selected the book because he is a "history buff" who shares a birthday -- Feb. 12 -- with Abraham Lincoln.
